NaNoWriMo Prep: Find Your Posse

The new NaNoWriMo site is up and you can fill out the profile and add the book you are going to write next month. If you’ve got any ideas about the book you are going to write, this can potentially help you find a posse of other writers to help you through the month.

In No Plot, No Problem, Baty extols the virtues of having other writing buddies that are also doing NaNoWriMo to keep you on track. When working two jobs to scrape by a few years ago it was difficult for me to attend the official write-ins done by NaNoBoston. The few times I was able to go the write-ins were pleasant and helpful, often adding hundreds of words to the very important word count. I usually write in a notebook that will be typed up later or type on my phone in Evernote because my laptop is so old I’m pretty sure the OS is Mountain Lion.

If you are unable to find an in-person crew and no one in your life is doing NaNoWriMo, don’t fret there are people for you yet. The options online are probably endless, but here are a few websites and communities that I’ve found:
NaNoWriMo’s Prep site
#NaNoPrep on Twitter
#amwriting on Twitter
Write With Me subreddit
Deescribe Writing’s Find a Writing Buddy page

Know of any other places to find a writing buddy? Let me know in the comments.
