Monday Update: Weddings Are Fun, Decisions Less So

This weekend I went to a wedding on a boat. It was a beautiful ceremony where best friends promised to love and support each other for the rest of their lives. I decided to attend that wedding instead of working on Harry Potter dictation, world-building research, or go grocery shopping. Before anyone says that I also had Saturday, I’ll mention that on Saturday I finished my outfit for the wedding and went to a a wedding eve cook out, plus worked on (and submitted on Sunday) two panel pitches for Arisia.
Also on Saturday I figured out that for the speed at which I read and type, that is probably the fastest way for me to get a complete copy of the entire Harry Potter series in a form that allows me to test and edit it as I’d like to since the dictation thing failed so spectacularly and Dragon Speaking Naturally is a bit too expensive to buy and then return if it doesn’t work as promised. That was a bit of a disheartening revelation because of the amount of time it will take, especially the amount of time it will take away from other projects I’d like to work on.
So now I have to decide: how badly do I want to intimately know Harry Potter vs. how badly do I want to build a world with a friend that everyone will be able to play in? The answer, at current, is I have no idea. I’d still like to do both. And I can do both, eventually. But one is going to need to take precedent over the other.
What I’m going to do for the next week is analyze how I spend my time: do I gravitate toward world-building or typing up Harry Potter?
